The weather has changed and so has your skin, yikes! What can you do about it? Here are some tips and some of my favorite products to ward off the dry irritating skin the elements have created!
First let’s not forget hydration from the inside out. It seems that when winter comes we forget to drink enough water. Black tea and alcohol tend to dehydrate us even more. So if you grab a hot toddy make sure you add extra water to compensate for the dryness.
I always add a humidifier to the house. If you don’t have one put a pot of water on the stove and allow it to steam, just don’t forget to keep adding water.
On the outside, start with an oil cleanser. I love my Eminence Stone Crop Oil Cleanser. This cleanser brings back balance to your skin as it removes impurities. It takes makeup off without stripping your skin or compromising the barrier. Follow with a mild cleanser such as Eminence Stone Crop Gel Wash, or Eminence Coconut Milk Cleanser. My grandchildren use the Coconut Milk Cleanser for their whole body! See all our cleansers here.
After a nice cleanse, my new favorite is Eminence Birch Water Purifying Essence. Applying an essence will prepare the skin for the serum and help draw product in. Choose a serum that will hydrate, but not clog up pores. Remember even oily skin needs moisture! Eminence Stone Crop Hydrating Gel is a beautiful choice. It hydrates, soothes, helps with uneven skin tone, and won’t clog pores. We have a variety of serums from which to choose. You can find them here.
Now add the moisturizer specific for your skin type. I have many to choose from, such as Eminence Firm Skin Acai Moisturizer or Eminence Rosehip Whip Moisturizer. Here is where you may want to add a good oil to the moisturizer. Stone Crop Oil would be a great choice. A daytime SPF: I typically recommend Suntegrity Face Moisturizer/Primer. This product doesn’t have any chemicals that would be detrimental to your body or the environment. Your skin type, where you live, how much time you are spending outdoors, and other factors will determine what is best for you. It is always good to see a professional skin therapist to help you with the correct products for you. See all our moisturizers here.
Adding a mask once or twice a week will further help with the dryness you may be experiencing. Here are a few that I love: Eminence Linden Calendula Treatment, Eminence Pumpkin Latte Hydration Masque or Eminence Stone Crop Masque. We have a variety of masks in our shop. Check them out here.
Don’t forget your beautiful lips! Eminence has a Rosehip & Lemongrass Lip Balm with SPF 15, Suntegrity has Lip Sticks with SPF 30. Both make good choices and with the SPF you have the best of both worlds. If you need one for night time without SPF, Eminence Citrus Lip Balm will keep your lips nice and hydrated. Make sure whatever you chose for your lips it doesn’t have a petroleum product in it, as those products can cause more dryness, leading you to apply more and more with little to no relief! Find a variety of hydrating lip and eye products here.
Chase the blues and the dryness away from winter and have healthy glowing skin with just a few changes to your regimen. Just ask, I can help.
